>Ok. But one more question? If i start writing a Gothic Chess program without >asking permission from Ed Trice, am i illegal? Well, if you never tell it Ed he don't know it either. But I think it is illegal to develop (even in your own basement) something that is already patented. I am not too happy that this variation is patented but on the other hand: - Ed took time and effort to come up with this setup position after developing it during a few years and spoking it over with serveral chess experts. - maintains a site of this Gothic Chess and explains the rules and maintance played games. - gives strategical advice, writes here about interesting chess stuff (tablebases, pvs, etc) - took time and effort to make let make some chess sets (investments) Ed is a smart person - but I am also not stupid - he only asks people $1 for a one year license to have fun. Well, he can have that $1 from me and then I take the fun. There is a big thread about Gothic Chess and patentrights after a few days Ed posted. I can't find it in the search engine because I think this engine is not updated yet regurlarly. But I hope we don't fill CCC with legal rights again else CCC people have the stomach full of Gothic Chess.
