from my experience i would say : both.

i do play at the chessbase server with hiarcs9 and in the moment many people
play with shredder8.

in my tournament hiarcs is leading, not shredder.

no doubt shredder7.04 was strong.
it might be shredder8 is stronger than shredder7.04.

but IMO hiarcs9 is stronger.

it's a pity that hiarcs did not participate in graz...
