For the 68k version of Chess Tiger, the difference would be much less.
The 128 MHz ARM CPU is probably less than twice as fast as your current
16 MHz CPU for running Tiger.  On the other hand, Chess Genius will be
very fast and strong on the Zire 21.  I'm sure there will be ARM-native
versions of Tiger and Hiarcs too some time soon soon.

I would recommend you to wait for the first Palm OS 6 units, which should
arrive some time within the next few months.  I expect OS 6 to be a big
improvement compared to OS 5, both from the user's perspective and the
developer's perspective.  From a chess programmer's point of view a
really important improvement is that it will finally be easy to create
ARM-native applications.
