I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly (e.g., general programming?)... But
if you're interesting in shell scripting / automation kind of stuff, you might
want to check out Windows Script Host:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/scripting/

You can write scripts to do all sorts of neat things, e.g., starting
applications, sending key strokes to a running application, etc.

WSH allows you to write scripts in vbscript or javascript and then you run them
from the commandline or from windows.
