Thanks, Bob. I decided against the soyo dragon--even though the price is very nice. I believe it is more important to have a socket 940 board, not a socket 748 one. I will get more features off of the better board, put in a 300 dollar cpu while waiting for diminished prices on the FX style chip... and a commercial version of windows64XP. Since this is going to be at least partly a chess box, I did not go double socket because I wanted portability( and slots-- my current experience with these new agp 3 cards is that we lose a pci slot just to fit the cooling system for the video card), I am putting the new machine in an aluminum "super lan boy" enclosure with a big power supply. So I nixed the MSI mobo as well. I chose a well reviewed nvidia gf3 chipset ATX mobo for under 200 bucks.
