Hi,

well - it's near... :) And it seems to be the biggest CCT ever, so far 46
participants and maybe some more will be on the list tomorrow night.

How will the seeding be done this year ? Two possibilities get in my mind:

a) we seed according to the standard rating of those account
b) we seed first those that have participated last CCT according to the rank
they achieved. After that we add the new engines sorted alphabetical

I think b) is maybe best - only big problem I have with Rebel - it would be
seeded very low in that list. a) has the problem that there are several new
accounts with so far unreal standard rating...
There is also possibility c) -> seed randomly...

The next question: What will happen when we have an odd number of participants.
I would offer to run a GnuChess 4 or a TSCP on one of my PCs... I just need an
account for that - if needed. You all know that there is nothing worser then a
bye...

I want to close with some hints for the newbies:
Play some testmatches before the tournament on the server - maybe even interrupt
some games to see if it is still working. Get familiar with the options at ICC,
how to talk with others. Turn channel 64 on - usually everything about the
tourney is discussed there. Get familiar with the formula stuff, something like
"set formula time=45 & inc=10 & !rated & computer" should work fine. Take a look
if you kibitzing is working correct and that all the things are shown correctly
according to the rules (score, deptht & predicted move)

If you have still problems to get an account: contact Volker. Or you make a new
account at ICC and ask one of the admins to make it useable. Usually e.g. "Zek"
knows what to do...

Don't get nervous, buy some beers, cokes or wine - whatever you want and have a
number of a local pizza service handy... :) And have fun !

Greets, Thomas
