Hiarcs is a 16 bit appl. obviously running in real mode. I do not use a DOS extender and there are a lot of interrupt routines which would need updating were I to go the protected mode route. I could have made it compatible with humem.sys but I simply did'nt have time to do so and update the chess strength. I had to make a choice and I chose to play with the chess engine instead. On a positive note I expect this to be the last release which does not have an alternative method of accessing extended memory. > >2) Is it 100 % sure, that X-mode is working with all new motherboard, CPU, RAM >combinations? Nothing in this world is 100% sure when it comes to the future. All beta testing showed no problems whatsoever. Testing included PII450s with 256Mb RAM, K6-300, K6-2, Pentium, PPro, Pent MMX, 486, 386, PII Xeon. Best wishes, Mark
