Good evening gentleman!
I was just looking at today's post and I noticed that Hiarcs-7 has been
tested with a PII450 (256 ram) and a PII Xeon (450?). Was there a big
difference in performance between the 2? The reason I ask is I just purchased a
PII450 256 ram machine (it arrives Sat or Mon). I spent a lot of time trying to
decide if the Xeon was worth the extra money. I was given a lot of valuable
input from this site and I finally decided that the Xeon was slightly faster,
but noticeably better only in network server applications. I didn't realize
that Mark had done some testing with the new Hiarcs-7 with these 2 machines.
Just what was the performance difference? I would like to thank anyone in
advance if you have any input on this.
Also, where can I get my hands on a copy of Hiarcs-7? (Not that I need the
ego beating -- the truth is, I can't beat Hiarcs 6, 4, 3 or 2.1 on my old 486
laptop at regular time controls!) Again, thanks to all of the programers that
make this hobby more enjoyable. Kevin Mulloy
