Hi Omid,

It's well worth going there a day or two before the tournament and playing a few
games against other computers, just to be sure that everything works. You can
start a game against another player by doing:

match opponent time increment

For example: match postmodernist 45 10 In general, it is frowned upon for
computers to match humans. You should really restrict yourself to playing
against other computers, in the first instance.

You can see which computer accounts are available by doing:

"who C" (no quotes of course!)
"who T" shows you all titled players
"who" shows you everyone logged in

If you *do* want to play against humans, it pays to "advertise". You can do this
with the "seek" command:

"seek 5 0 r" - this makes you available for a 5min 0second (increment) rated
game against anyone who sees your advert.

"seek 15 2 u" - advertises your availability for a 15min 2 second unrated game.

You can offer up to three seeks.

The best way to get help is to ask in channel 64, where the chess programmers
hang out:

+ch 64 joins you to this channel. You will see channel tells to channel 64
(normally in a different colour). You can pose a question like this:

"tell 64 How do I get Falcon to offer seeks after it has finished a game?"

If you want to talk to a particular person directly, try:

"tell ctid hello andrew"

Substitute the person's handle for ctid (which is mine).

You can find out about an account or player with the finger command:

"finger postmodernist"

You can see the last 20 games played by an account with the history command:

"history crafty"

Most ICC commands can be abbreviated. Try the first two letters.

You can get help on anything by typing:

"help finger"
"help history"
"help seek"
"help channels"

Hope this is helpful

Andrew
