I actually created an empty database called "anything.cbh"

I tried it with Power.ctg and with strong.ctg [Shredder's strongest tournament
book] and no such luck. Perhaps you are using a book you created yourself? The
commercial books may have some sort of built-in "protection"? Sometimes the
books come with the desired database also on the CD.

When I get "save as" in the opening book, THERE IS NO OPTION TO CLICK ON "OK."
Instead, the only option is to select the database and then click on "open." I
am using Chessbase 8.0. Are you? Note that there are three save options:
save, save as, and save book. None of them work. All it does is save a single
line.

If you just tried this and it worked for you, then there must be something
different about the software [or operator procedures] each of us is using.
