It would be a shame if there were no good automated way to do this. I am
especially interested in converting new books produced by Chessbase 8.0 [using
the Opening Report feature].

Incidentally, Chessbase 9.0 may be out sometime late Spring 2004 according to
the rumors. [Not confirmed.] Maybe it will offer this capability.

Generally, any procedure which can be done manually should be such that it could
be automated.

One must deal with transpositions. This might seem a problem at first, but I
see no real show-stopper here. If PowerBook2004.ctg were converted to a database
of lines, the number of lines might exceed the number of games originally used
[Power2004.cbh] to create the book. This would result from transpositions. I
see no reason why that would be a problem. In fact, it might produce new
transposition ideas to be tested in future analysis or tournaments.
