Hi,

   I do not have access personally to a Xeon, a tester does however.
I do not have comparative performance measurements but from experience
with the PPro I know that a large full speed L2 cache will help HIARCS.
If I had to guess at the improvement I would say 15%, but I'll
try and find out the real figure.

Ps. You probably made the right choice as the Xeon machines are pretty
expensive at present.
