I had wished a lot more tact, but this is not justiciable, only desirable. And because that tact wasn't shown also Fritz Reul had little interest to counter this rigid (but formally correct) interpretation of the rules with further activities. The Wch wasn't so interesting for him like his examins. [...] Did ICGA violate its own rules? No. Did someone protest against these rules before the tournament? No. Fritz Reil neither, but he didn't know these rules admittedly. [...] With the time there was a concrete suspicion. How should it be evaluated? If a programmer reads "Schach am PC" [a book in German from Friedel&Steinwender; Rolf] and creates a new super-engine starting from these Minimax-ideas, is it a clone then? I think no it's not! Fritz has declared that was inspired from public sources, books, net-infos, public source-codes, etc. over a longer time. But an engine doesn't become stronger with 100 Elo points only by finetuning Crafty. One needs basically new ideas. See the statement of the ARI programmer who knows the code. A trustworthy witness who could have turned around matters with a statement at the Wch!? I just make the proposal that the code of Crafty has relatively exhausted its possibilities - don't scold me, I know this is saucy - but if Bob doesn't achieve to make things better over the last 4 years, nobody else will succeed..... ;-) [quote end] This was for me the most important part of the long German message of Christian Liebert, someone who has telephoned with Fritz Reul during the questionable time of the Wch in Graz or directly there after. This is for me the first indirect quote from soemthing how Fritz Reul reacted and I am very thankful for this publication from Christian. May the news now inspire the minds of our readers. I've done what I could. I asked so many questions that Christian doubted that I had read his former statements at all. But with my stamina I think I got some important news. I am certain that if people had known this reaction by Fritz Reul many delusions wouldn't have come up. BTW I must say that Bob Hyatt also always declared that in that question of a check of the questionable program he understood the decisions of the TD of ICGA. Bob's critic was mainly concentrated on the exclusion to this late date three rounds before the end. [Not to speak of the scandalous events around the thrown game by the Jonny author and operator. That was accepted by the TD.] Rolf P.S. Time will tell us if the ICGA and its money will survive instead of coming into serious difficulties by the anger many decisions had aroused. Many see in CCT6 right now this weekend a new basis for computerchess tournaments.
