My point is quite simple: I don't trust the Chessbase UCI interface. I've had
various cases of engines that work perfectly in Arena, but either don't load in
the Fritz GUI or only load after a few seconds have elapsed from the clock. If
the native version of List didn't exist, I wouldn't ask for one to be provided.
But it does exist, and it is currently rated 7th in the CSS list. In his
comments at http://www.computerschach.de/rangliste/aktuelles.htm Klaus Wlotzka
seems to think that Chessbase is holding the engine back because of an upcoming
commercial version. But now I have been told by Chessbase that no commercial
version is planned, and it's up to the author what he does with the engine.
