Piece for 2/3 pawns is almost always bad except in simple endgames where the pawns might win but the piece can not. two pieces for rook and pawn is almost always bad. The two pieces are simply stronger in most cases. three pieces for queen favors the three pieces. Those are the mail killers... you have to play with two rooks vs queen and something to see how your program handles that specific case...
