If I were guessing, I would bet it is blacks "love" for the >queen. IE I have seen Diep with huge scores for itself as in the past it has >thought that a queen vs a pair of rooks and a couple of pawns is better for the >queen. It is certainly unbalanced with respect to material, question is whether >the two bishops and rook can overpower the queen and rook with the passed pawn. Other engines also see black as winning for example Deep Fritz 8 though looks to me as you say balanced and in this case probably better for white regardless of what black plays. Currently Shredder 8 is at game 91/140 and only Crafty 19.06 has an even score +2-2=2 though I haven't looked at the 2nd win of Crafty yet. But my question is it does seem to me having played about 40 long time control games currently with 19.06 that this engine is significantly stronger (against PC's) my guess 70 rating points, than previous versions. Could be .08 and .10 are even stronger, but what do you see as having made Crafty that much stronger since say the 18. versions. Thanks, Sarah.
