I disagree totally - imo -- it is the best ever.  Last night I was optimizing
Chest for Franz - the exectuable that was slowest on my machine was the fastest
on his machine.  I will re-release Crafty 19.10 SE with the compilation options
that work best for him.  When I say slowwest, I mean it was 25% slower.   Ithink
i have such odd processor with non standard ram , my machine is not good for
optimizng for the general public.  I have a P4 Xeon 1.7 that is running with PC
600(?)  - it really should have PC 800  -- I didn;t realzie it until after got
my machine.

Also , I think opening book can also have a big influence - some programs do
better with certain books than other.

You do need hundreds of games - especially when the spread is only 36 points.

Even then it may fall back to YMMV.
