Hi George,
The Q5T settings, well an old story but basically they are just a slight
variation on the Rebel Q3 settings from Eric Campos for tactics. Q5T really
'sucks bigtime' at gameplay as Vincent Diepeveen would surely put it. But nice
for finding tactics! Not really fair to compare the solution times with regular
'gameplaying' programs. I am impressed though with Shredder 8, Chessmaster
Hiarcs and Anthony's Zappa too, for their quick solution times of Nolot #1.
Rebel Q5T:
[Pawn Value = 100]
[Knight Value = 100]
[Bishop Value = 100]
[Rook Value = 100]
[Queen Value = 95]
[King Safety = 400]
[Mobility = 45]
[Pawn Structure = 110]
[Passed Pawns = 125]
[Pins = 110]
[Bishop Pair = 110]
[Chess Knowledge = 100]
[Attractiveness = 250]
[Attacking = 450]
[Strength of Play = 100]
[Draw Contempt Factor= 0.00]
[Selective Search = 130]
[Search Technique = DEEPER]
I tried it now with settings for Rebel that I hope would do better at game play,
first thing I tried Rebel takes about an hour to play 26.Nxh6 on the same
Celeron 500, but now in Rebel Dos 12.02 with 40 Mb hash:

Maybe I could improve that 01:07:36 just a little with these settings, as an
example:
[Personality = No SE N2 g3i3] * Rebel 12 further positional tuning
[Pawn Value = 100]
[Knight Value = 101]
[Bishop Value = 100]
[Rook Value = 101]
[Queen Value = 98]
[King Safety = 150]
[Mobility = 120]
[Pawn Structure = 105]
[Passed Pawns = 105]
[Passed Pawn King Tropism = 130]
[Traditional Isolated Pawns = 80]
[Progressive Isolated Pawns = 125]
[Pins = 100]
[Bishop Pair = 100]
[Chess Knowledge = 200]
[Attractiveness = 135]
[Attacking = 130]
[Strength of Play = 100]
[Draw Contempt Factor = 0.00]
[Selective Search = 130]
[Search Technique = NULLMOVE]
[Pruning = MISC_01] * TREE: if (reduce & rd=0) goto tr76
[Pruning ? MISC_25]
[Pruning = MISC_37]
[Pruning ? MISC_40]
[Pruning = MISC_22] * Somewhat more safe Selective Search
[Pruning = MISC_09]
[Pruning = MISC_10]
[Pruning = MISC09_2.00]
[Pruning = MISC10_4.00]
[Pruning ? MISC_12]
[Pruning = MISC_03] * Move ordering (safe) (speedup 4%)
[Pruning = MISC_72] * New Reduction
[Pruning = MISC72_2.00] * margin = 1.00
[Pruning = MISC_46]
[Pruning = M46_HASH_ON]
[Pruning = MISC_02] * New threat extension
[Pruning ? MISC_67] * Nullmove R=2 (always)
[Adjusted Selectivity MIDG = 4] * Maximum selective depth (midgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END0 = 4] * Maximum selective depth (early endgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END1 = 4] * Maximum selective depth (endgame)
[Adjusted Selectivity END2 = 3] * Maximum selective depth (simple endgame)
[Pruning ? MISC_34] // Extend singular checks
[Pruning = MISC_66] * Fixes Diep-Rebel bug
[Pruning ? MISC_63] * Q-SEARCH (all captures)
[Knight Mobility = 88] * New parameter
[Center Control = 25] * 25
[Bishop Mobility = 25] * 25
[Right to Move = 75] * 75
[Strong Squares = 125] * 125
[ANTI-GM = OFF]
[EVALUATION = NORMAL]
[Extensions (remaining)= 3]
[Extensions (checks)= 0]
[Extensions (captures)= 0]
The singular extensions [Pruning = MISC_12], [Pruning = MISC_34] don't work
anymore in version 12.02 (Rebel Dos), so I switched them off, but for analysis I
would still like to use them, they find some things you can't do any other way.
[Pruning = MISC72_2.00] to put 2.00 here is just to see if that still works,
maybe not at all :)
Somehow the number of parameters Ed invented has grown and grown.. And this is
probably just a very tiny sample of what was tried and thrown in the dustbin
with disgust...
