None (that I am aware of)

There is no other chess program comparable to CM (fantasy boards, personalities
and non standard window calls for the GUI).

For playing strength and serious study , you have:

Chessbase Programs (Fritz, Shredder, Junior, Hiarcs, Tiger are the main
engines).

From Lokasoft , you have Tiger Rebel, DeepSjeng,

For a freebie GUI with freebie engines, you have Arena with Ruffian, SOS etc.

Most of these products can be purchased from our our sponsor ICD.

There are other places that have them as well. The people at ICD are very
knowledgable and can help steer you to the right product depending on what you
are looking for.

Alternatively, you can "try" running CM 9K on WIN2K, but officially it is not
supported and your mileage may vary. It runs fine on my WIn2K machine. CM8K
does not run properly on my machine. Most of the problems when it does not run
are video related and there are certain video cards that may give a problem.
Upgrading your video card is a possible solution, but again ymmv and there are
no guarantees.

In my opinion the easiest to install and play right from the the box are the
Chessbase engines. But the Lokasoft engines install fine as well, are
downloadable (www.lokasoft.com) and are not a problem. Arena also installs
well, is downloadable and plays fine. Lokasoft is known for their stellar
support and quick fixes when problems arise.
