Ponti Even a dual Athlon 1.5GHz would be faster than a P4-3.2GHz HT. A dual 2.4GHz Athlon would be about twice as fast. Here are the numbers I have for Crafty, these are rounded numbers: P4-3.2GHz: 1.3 million nodes/sec P4-3.2GHz HT: 1.5 million nodes/sec Athlon 2.4GHz: 1.5 million nodes/sec Dual Athlon 2.4GHz: 2.9 million nodes/sec Dual P4-3.2HT: 2.9 million nodes/sec So, a Dual Athlon 2.4GHz @ 2.9 million nodes/sec is significantly faster than a single P4-3.2GHz w/ HT.
