I agree that large DB's being useless for players of my level, Mr Takata.
Nonetheless, Fritz have superior DB FEATURES and seaching abilities, not DB
themselves. I hardly use Fritz DB features to study openings (I actually avoid
and hate studying openings). I focus mostly on playing(ICC,OTB,Computer),
studying, and annotating MY own games using Fritz and reading chess
instructional books. I store my games in DATABASES and award medals for easy
retreval. Apart from storing my own Database, DB features are used for viewing
Exeter's Chess Club's Canon in CBH, Lopez' Battle Royale, and Claude Kabers
excellent Tactics Training with varying themes and difficulties. All these tools
are not over my head and have helped me with my scope and ideas. I agree that
giant databases are useless for someone in my level and I don't bother with non
or poor annotated games. I cannot do many of these functions easily, or at all,
with CM6000.
I think that CM6000 "was not meant for pro's". I don't think that professionals
is Mindscape's target market, rather they are trying to sell to patzers like
myself ;). Nonetheless, I do not doubt that the program is strong enough to
challenge Pro's as an opponent. I also enjoy CM's personalities. After I play a
game on CM, i change it to PGN, and to my Fritz personal DB it goes!
