I was responding to the post from Aloisi where he asked "Which one is faster FOR
CHESS: a Pentium4-HT 3.2 GHz or a Dual Athlon 2x2.4 GHz"

AFAIK there is no Athlon Processor @2.4 GHz so it must be an overclocked one.

If you study the list carefully you will notice, that the per GHz performance of
a P4 corresponds with 0.7 GHz of an Athlon (at least for chess). So a 3.2 GHz P4
(which is not in the list) should be as fast as an Athlon XP at 3.2X0.7 = 2.24
GHz.

The per GHz performance of an Athlon 64 is even better than that of the Athlon
XP, so an Athlon 64 3400+ which runs with 2.2 GHz is slightly faster than a
Pentium 4 3.4 GHz (even in 32-Bit-Mode).

Is there somethin unclear?

regards Joachim
