I told myself that my next PC would be an AMD 64-bit system (my current is an Athlon 1.2), BUT just over a week ago there was a sale at Dell.com and I ordered a P4 2.8 for $400 (after a $200 rebate), with free shipping. It has these specs: Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 2.8GHz w/533MHz FSB SPECIAL OFFER! 512MB at 333Mhz DDR SDRAM for the price of 256MB FREE UPGRADE! 80GB Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive SPECIAL! Dual Drives: 48x CD-ROM Drive + FREE 48x CD-RW Drive No Floppy Drive Included Sound Integrated 5.1 Channel Audio 1 Year Limited Warranty plus 1 Year On-site Service Productivity Pack including WordPerfect® and Money® Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition No Monitor Integrated Intel® PRO 10/100 Ethernet Integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Sort of stripped down, but not too badly I think. And I'll still save up for the AMD system (you gotta have 2 PCs!). I just haven't kept up with the various AMD 64-bit chips and how they differ... Anyway, do you think the Dell system was a good deal?
