Dear Kurt,

I'm really happy to see your last post. You've done a wonderful job in educating
us over the last few years regarding the various strengths/weaknesses of the top
engines. Your fantastic tournament using Nunn's test positions and the
tournament using different 1st moves were exceptionally good examples of this.

Now, I'd like to see tournament, played at standard time controls, where the
starting position is from various endgames (all positions should be
approximately equal). Each engine would play each side of the position versus
all the others. This would demonstrate whether engines have indeed improved in
an area where they are usually considered to be weakest - and humans supposedly
remain superior.

I thought about doing that test on my computer at home, using various endgame
positions from my correspondence games. But I've yet to find the time. Does
running such a tournament yourself interest you at all Kurt?

All the best,

Stephen
