Author: Djordje Vidanovic

I have started testing Crafty 19.10 SE Byrne against the Ruffian versions
(including the latest betas). In the first match, against Ruffian 2.0.0, in
game 21 of the match I came across the following game:

{Insufficient material} 1/2-1/2

After this game, Crafty appeared broken and lost _all_ other games, usually by
giving up pawns for no reason at all, or simply overlooking simple threats.
Therefore I stopped the match at that point. The "regular" score before this
game was 14-7 for Ruffian 2.0.0. Conditions: Crafty using its own book,
bookc.bin, 64M hash, all 3,4,5 men tbs, Ruffian with the Leiden book, 64M hash,
3,4,5 men tbs.
The games were played on my P4-2.6Ghz HT computer, Win XP Pro, Crafty with 2
threads (about 1,200 kn/s on average).
Is this due to the limitation of a string length somewhere, or?
