I am aware of a difference between the FX and your vanilla Opteron. Opterons support up to 8 megs of DDR 333 registered ram in four dual channel ( 2pairs) slots.( when 2gig dimms are used, they are only available as 2700 memory AFAIK) In contrast, the 51-FX **can alternatively** use DDR 400 in a dual channel pair. 51FX will recognize **less than** 4 megs of ram in this config.
