Hello Baldo,
I think you will have a hard time getting anyone to commit to any one PC/Ram.  I
have a PII-333mhz/160Meg ram and a K6-2-350mhz/256Meg ram.  Most programs run
faster on the K6-2.  Chessmaster 6000 doesn't seem to care.  I find Rebel 10
eats about 10 meg hash/minute and Fritz about 3 times that amount.  At 40/90 I
have seen almost every program I have search for as high as 12-15 minutes on one
move but this is unusual(Once/5 games). I think the Pentium 200 mhz is only
about 40-60 points weaker than mine for most programs.  So, I would just go with
your budget.
