The draw is illustrated ... but the maxDTM figures are not necessarily all they seem. Eugene's indexing does not spot unreachable positions other than those with two men on one square and those with the sntmK in check. Thus, although there is just one KQQKNN wtm win in 1 for Black, allegedly, it is actually unreachable. There are other instances where one, more, even all, of the maxDTM positions are unreachable - and, before you ask, I don't have a list of them all. The unique KQPKQP wtm mate in 114 [from Peter Karrer] is an example: the wK is in check from a P on d7, and also from the bQ on e2 - two impossibilities in one position. g
