hi everybody, well here is my two cents worth. over the last 5 years or so(long time poster, first time reader;)) i have been digesting the various comments by very capable commentators on the subject of chess programs, and there affect on human play in general. there seems to be two distint prevaling ideas on this subject. there are more,i'm just sticking to the top two. not in any particular order. #1.computers and chess programs will destroy the game of chess otbp. #2.computers and chess programs will help in a meriad of different ways in otbp. hmmm...,where do we go from here? well #1.cant be true. if not anything a savy player has won many a game by doing the old fashioned thing.(analysing his losses with his or hers favorite engine,or his or hers critical analysis.) so i will assume #1.is incorrect. #2.if my reasoning above about #1 is correct,(or close),then #2 is more or less correct. so whats the beef? its my belief that chess programs with computers will have there waterloo via the internet. who are you really playing? icc's stuff has allready been circomavigated by savy java programmers. this goes for yahoo, msn, fics,et al.. corrispondence chess,a joke. my opinion is we might have to go back to playing each other face to face. how quaint. till i see ya otb. regards mike
