So was the claim in 1976 with the first hardware-assisted chess programs such as
Belle and a later version of Mackhack with a "cheops" box built at MIT added on.

Don't forget, I can easily produce 20M+ nps rates on readily available hardware
today.  An 8-way opteron nearly hits that already.

Software is a _long_ way from "dead"...
