Additionally, if en passant is truly possible in this position, then you also need to specify it in the FEN string. I think the proper FEN should be: [D]8/2N3p1/5b2/k1B2P2/pP4R1/8/K1nn4/8 b - b3 0 1 Which is a mate in one with 1...axb3ep. If Black captures with 1...Nxb3, it's a mate in 3 for White. I swear that I've seen this position somewhere before, though.... jm
