Look a these results of Fritz 8 vs. Shredder **7.04** using various books (that's not me, but another Mike btw. :-)): http://www.miko42.de/DasDuell/duellindex.html It wasn't 40/40, but 35+4 or 30+3 on 2+ GHZ Athlons, many games. He didn't swap books, but Shredder7.04 *without book* scored nearly identical to the result with it's own book, versus F8+F8 book each. Certainly surprising. Fritz 8.0.23 - Shredder 7.04 F8 - S7.04 % Fritz % Sh games 01 eigenes Buch - eigenes Buch 131,0 - 145,0 47,5 *52,5* 276 12 eigenes Buch - ohne Buch 143,5 - 151,5 48,6 *51,4* 295 22 ohne Buch - eigenes Buch 87,5 - 113,5 43,5 56,5 201 (excerpt) eigenes = own book, ohne = without book Again, these are not my results but I see no reason to doubt them.
