More than 50 years. 1. I do not think that the programs will be strong enough in 2054 to be able to play without a good opening book to win against a program or similar streght with a good opening book. Of course they will be much stronger than today ones and using much faster hardware. 2. I think there is a lot to be found so 50 years will not be enough to have the game of chess solved by computers. This is my opinion. Sandro
