Perhaps it is because, in many cases, both players are playing extremely well and neither side has been able to break through. Yes, there definitely have been some quick draws, but in other games it seems like there have been some very good fights with the games turning into draws when the winning side couldn't find the win over the board. The Shirov-Kasparov game from Round 1 was exciting. The Leko-Kasparov game from Round 3 LOOKED like it was going to be exciting, at least. ;-) And the Topalov-Radjabov Round 4 game had some fireworks as well. It looks like both Shirov and Topalov had chances to win their 3rd round game, as did Radjabov and Vallejo Pons in Round 5. And Topalov should have won his 5th round game against Leko. Kramnik has been playing pretty uninspired chess, so far. I'll admit that.... And I believe that chess, with best play, is a draw and this is where the highest-level chess (both human and computer) is going to arrive, eventually (and sadly).... jm
