Here Botvinnik calculated the most straightforward way to win by exchanging off the queens! The reason why this position is so important is that if a program play any other moves it could delay the win by several minutes, and that could lead to a draw, specially if all the is left is 1 or 2 minutes on the clock. By not exchanging the queens the game could be extended several moves more between 30 to 75 more moves. PS: You will notice that the majority of the top programs besides Shredder 7 and 8 will play Qd1+ or Qe1+ and this will only prolong the game. I will like to see how many minutes do these programs take to select Qe3+ (Ruffian 2, Deep Junior, Fritz 8, Deep Fritz8, Chess Tiger, and Hiarcs9) New game [D]8/kp6/P5p1/2p1p3/2PpP3/3P3Q/4q3/6K1 b - - 0 1 Analysis by Shredder 8: 1. -+ (-4.56): 1...Qe3+ 2.Qxe3 dxe3 3.axb7 Kxb7 4.Kf1 Ka6 5.Ke2 Ka5 6.Kxe3 Kb4 7.Kd2 g5 8.Kc2 g4 9.Kd2 g3 10.Ke2 Kc3 11.Kf3 Kxd3 12.Kxg3 Kxe4 13.Kg4 Kd3 14.Kf5 Kxc4 15.Ke4 Kb5 2. -+ (-2.76): 1...Qd1+ 2.Kg2 Qd2+ 3.Kh1 Qc1+ 4.Kh2 Qb2+ 5.Kg1 Kxa6 6.Qc8 Qc1+ 7.Kg2 Ka5 8.Qxc5+ b5 (Pichard, MyTown 24.02.2004)
