Hello,
After reading the post by Laurence Chen I went back to start Junior 5.0 to see
if I could figure out what the "FS" mode is that is supposed to be turned on. I
believe he is referring to the "Favor Sacrifices" in the engine settings. The
default is off and I have NEVER had it on. When you see Junior sacrificing a
piece it's usually late in the game after the "Mate in X" announcements and
Junior is just delaying the mate as long as possible. It might be interesting
to see what would happen if it were turned on though. Also if Mr. Chen thinks
Chessmaster does not attack very well he should go back and look at the first
game I played with Junior 5 vs CM6K. It was a warm up game at game/30 which
CM6K won in 29 moves I believe (The shortest game so far). Junior is a very
capable program and finding strong attacking lines against it is not easy as
with all the top programs. Also if CM6K is good at defending itself that's a
plus not a negative. Junior 5 is still my favorite program because I think it
does take more chances than most progams I have. The problem is, against CM6K
so far ChessMaster has had all the answers. Look at the games and try to point
out a weakness in Chessmaster's play(Positional or tactical). It's not easy for
this old boy. How about you ?
