There was a discussion about mplayer issues on ICC several months ago. I
remember that it worked for me too but stopped to work all of a sudden. (not
sure whether I switched to another version)

I remember people having problems with versions 0.9x and some people suggested
to go to version 1.0 - which solved the problem for some and not for others...

What error message do you get? And what version of mplayer are you using?
