http://www.chessfriend.com >>> computermatch Nickel says, "Pluto" played well compared to engine's play on over-the-board level (with only some minutes per move). No obviously positional weak moves, which one could expect in positions with opposite castling. On the other side, taking into consideration all six games, engines do not very well in accumulating little advantages and in seizing (esp. keeping) the initiative. They play better when defending than when attacking (excepz from clear tactics). Please follow Nickel's interesting and instructive live commentaries and give your opinion about the experiment. On "computerschach.de" Nickel said he and his friends are planning a tournament (cc) with 6 players from Elo 1600 to 2600 vs. 6 engines in Scheveningen tournament style. The computer assistants will then be allowed to use more engines for move evaluation, but they are not allowed to play interactive, because the computers should play only by itself. No "learning" etc. In this case the hardware will not be as massive as in the current match, because each computer system has to play vs. 6 human players simultan (and not vs. one like now). It will be interesting to compare how the Elo will correlate with success vs. the engines. Please share your comments from time to time, because here are a lot of experts and it is a great experiment which serves attention. Thanks to Nickel, Steinwender, Lutzenberger & Co. Uwe Meissner
