I think I am probably the worst possible nominee. I live right on the edge of
being a smart-mouth when someone says something I don't care for. Bruce and
Robert know a lot more about chess than me, but I am afraid I would be twice as
controversial as both of them put together. Also, I don't think I could pull my
personality out of banning. Quite frankly, I'm much too abrasive to be a
moderator. Not with you, of course, but with whinging, brainless twits, I am.
People who cheeze me off on r.g.c.c. would probably get a jaundiced eye.
Besides which, I am not really a chess expert like many of those that frequent
this place [R.T. being one example -- %% No, not *that* R.T., the *OTHER* R.T.
%%]. Howard Exner, Richard Fowell, Dave Gomboc, Kai Skibbe, etc. People like
that who not only have a passion for the game, but also the knowlege to go along
with it. Read enough of my messages and you will see that I am little more than
a patzer. My area of knowlege is database. I also enjoy chess and C
programming, so I come here to pull in more information, like some gigantic
cosmic leach.

Look at the furor Bruce kicked up by simply stating his opinion a time or two!!
If you do a search through the old messages, you will see that there have been a
number of complaints about me, both here and in r.g.c.c. as being too
controversial and people even wonder why I don't get banned. Can you really
imagine me as a *moderator* !? Sort of like, "And now for your sensitivity
training, let me introduce you to your new instructor 'Adolf Hitler.'"

>And I do think it's time for some folks, who do a lot of talking, to stand up

As much as I hate to do it to him, I seriously think that KK would be an
excellent and impartial moderator. Will Singleton would be another ;-)
Actually, I think all of the suggested moderators would do an excellent job, but
Dr. Hyatt is another one who would probably start a few flames (though he is
emminantly more qualified than I am for the post both in knowlege and
temperament). I think Don and Amir probably did the moderator role the way it
should be done (invisibly). Which controversy did you see either of them become
embroiled in?

I think KK would be ideal, since he is so incredibly selfless. And he does not
call whinging twits what they are, even when they really are whinging twits, to
the obvious observation of all. A moderator should be a diplomat. Personally,
I don't believe in the pedagogic notion of "hell". But I am reminded of a
quote:
"A diplomat is a person who can cordially invite you to the theological place of
eternal punishment in such a way that you will look forward to the trip."
