Definitely not.  Just try a 32 bit program such as Fritz 8 on an AMD64 and
you'll see how fast it is:  faster than any other current single CPU running
Fritz 8.

The AMD64 is a great chess processor and will be even better very soon with new
64 bit chess apps.
