Almost the same condition - I bought Shredder 7 after I had installed Fritz 8 and the Fritz 8 GUI was fully updated at the time. Chessbase advised me that I could install Shredder 7 on top of Fritz 8 with no problems. After installing, simply go to the Playchess server and update the GUI, and with Shredder 7, the 7.04 engine update. Everything worked fine - I will be getting Shredder 8 in a week or so, and will install on top of Fritz as well.
