the problem is far simpler than you think... i have sighted record numbers of users there during linares broadcasts with commentary- which add to the server's load. frequently over 2500 souls logged inat once during linares at playchess.com (sometimes close to 2750-2800 users) my pings have been too slow for blitz games at times, yet I have developed some workarounds...
