Hi Peter, > The reason I ask is I have recieved emails from people here at the CCC that I > speak to via email, that are infected with email worms. I have emailed those > specific individuals giving them a heads up to remove whatever worm they are > infected with and a link to the correct virus removal tool from the Symantec > website. in fact that has nothing to do with those people. The newer worms fake the from-adress, so you can never be sure who have sent it or who is infected. Especially with the Beagle worm I got usually around 100 viruses by mail each day for about a week. From nearly everybody I know in the CC-scene. And it's very unlikely that they are all infected -> especially because I know that some of them only use Linux... :) Another Virus which floods my eMail-accounts was last year Sobig.F - also with eMail-adresses that were faked and seem to indicate that complete comunity is infected. (e.g. I got viruses from Robert Hyatt, Frank Schneider, Vincent Diepeveen etc. - And I am very sure that they have no virus on their PC) So deleting viruses and spam out of my eMail folder has become part of my life - so sad it is, there seems to be no chance that this ever will change... Greets, Thomas
