I wish you great success with your tournament.

Make it appealing for the participants to the maximum extent possible so that
they will want to come and will later remember the experience with good thoughts
forever.

A trip to Israel for people in the USA would be a major undertaking. Similarly
for anyone else who lives far from Israel. Nevertheless, there are many in the
USA who will make that trip once at least in their lifetimes.

Since, for many in the USA a trip to Israel would be a once-in-a-lifetime
experience, this event should be made so that it would be memorable. The chess
tournament must offer more than just a chance to play a few computer chess
games.

I urge you to heed the above. Make this an event one which no one would want to
miss and you will have plenty of participation.

Incidentally, you should reserve the right to change the format to double round
robin or single round robin if not enough people show up. Swiss, especially
where two games per round [colors reversed], should be selected if there is a
large crowd. Above all else, make it worth the while of the programmers of
mid-range chess programs to participate. Don't just favor the likely winners.

Bob D.
