Hi Andrew, a fair question (about the topicality of using linux and its attendant problems). many programmers here use linux and recommend it to others. this is a **computer chess** club. i am not sure if your interest in the topic-- or lack of it is an adequate criterion of topicality. should you wish to remain on-topic yourself, instead of indulging in rhetorical criticism publicly, I invite you to email me privately about your complaints. and since I assume that you are not an elected moderator here, who has the right to arbitrate topicality, you are certainly welcome to whine about me to them, should you imagine it is necessary. thanks, Marc
