For some reason I've lost confidence in the CB GUI with Shredder8.eng, and am starting to use the classic Shredder 6 GUI with the Shredder 8 UCI engine. That's the way SSDF does it, and I imagine they know best. I don't know yet if this will help with the nonsensical PV's which Shredder 8 burps out frequently. So far I haven't seen any bad PV's with the classic GUI, but I'm still a beginner. Also my impression is that big hash size may be handled better, and the engine may run faster with the classic GUI, but haven't tried to prove it (yet). I've accumulated a couple of questions about the classic GUI which I can't answer, so would appreciate a little help... Does it have a variation board, or some way to play over a variation while the engine is running in analysis mode? Does it have a "move now" command, so that the best move found so far is executed from analysis mode (rather than having to drag & drop the piece on the chessboard)? Lastly, are there any better GUI's than this one for running the Shredder 8 UCI engine? I hear about Arena but haven't taken the plunge. Is it a significant improvement? WP
