It has a potential value.

If they pay $1M now, they will never be sued by SCO. They can use that in
marketing:

"We are fully insured against all legal troubles - use our servers!"

What if they were sued, and -horror- lost:

- pay up $699 license times 20000 servers
- additional damages
- $1M+ legal fees for their own lawyers
