I knew this line well for black. Kudrin had a critical win (at that time refuting the variation)in this variation...Finally I decided not to play it...I played the Spanish deferred and I lost in the ending.. But I have won against GM shabalov in 1992 (the year he became US champion) in an OTB game..I almost won again him again a couple of years later (but I lost the second game) Tansel Turugt
