I guess I don't look at the same way. I look at it in two ways:

1. The post is not needed, as one can attain the answer easily via google.

2. You must remember this board is provided _free_ of charge to members. Imagine
2 threads a day, 9 replies each. This current page is 18k in size, so
20*18*30*12=129,600kb/year on wasted threads. That does not take into account
how many read the thread but do not respond. Someone is paying for that
bandwidth, but it isn't you or I. It is a money issue as well.

I look at the "big picture", not just one post.

Useless posts or completely off topic posts can be posted elsewhere, or resolved
elsewhere.. saving the board money.

I would bet 100% that if the members had to pay for the bandwidth, it would be
more widely used.

Anything that is free usually ends up being abused. I remember 5 yrs ago here,
nonesense posts were kept to a minimum. Now it seems they are rampant.
