Go up one level in this thread

It's simply not possible to tell whether castling rights should be enabled or
not without a move list. For example: [d]
r1bqk2r/ppp2ppp/2np1n2/2b1p3/2B1P3/5N2/PPPP1PPP/RNBQK2R w kq - 0 6

Now, just looking at the position, it would like like there's no reason white
can't castle. However, if you look at the pgn, it's obvious he shouldn't be
allowed to:

[Site "?"]
[Date "2004.03.08"]
[Round "?"]
[White "ChessicStudent"]
[Black "ChessicStudent"]
[Result "*"]
[ICCResult "Game in progress"]
[Opening "Bishop's opening: Classical variation"]
[ECO "C23"]
[NIC "IG.04"]
[Time "09:07:17"]

1. e4 e5 2. Bc4 Bc5 3. Kf1 Nf6 4. Ke1 Nc6 5. Nf3 d6

I hope this clarifies the situation, even if it's not what you wanted to hear.
Andrew
